Dakshina Kannada, the coastal District of Karnataka, is recognized as the educational hub of the Country. The well known city of Mangaluru has now a developmental project at Pilikula, is at 10km from the Mangaluru city, along Mangaluru Karkala Highway. The State Govt. took the initiative of establishing a Regional Science Center here at Pilikula to create awareness in the latest fields of science and technology and to conduct activities for different stake holders of the Region PRSC. A joint venture of Dept. of Culture, GoI and DST, GoK, has the mandate to cater to the needs of the region in science activities.
The Centre is supported through KSTePS, DST, GoK and is administered by a registered Society formed for the purpose. The Governing Body of the Society has representatives from administration, academic bodies and industry. It meets regularly to discuss matters related to the administration of the Centre. Deputy Commissioner of the District is the Chairman of the Society and the day - to- day affairs are managed by a Member Secretary. The Director of the Centre plans programs and activities.
